Connect Facebook Messenger
Let customers message your bot from your Facebook Page. Sign in with Facebook, pick the Page, and Meerlume does the rest.
Use this guide when you want the bot to answer the messages your Facebook Page receives — from the Message button on the Page, from Messenger, and from the m.me link you can put anywhere. There is nothing to install and no developer setup: you authorise Meerlume in Facebook's own dialog and choose the Page.
Before you start
- A Facebook Page you manage — the Page your customers message. You need full control of it, which is what Facebook gives the person who created the Page or anyone they added with that level of access.
- The Facebook account with that access — this is the account you sign in with during the connection. A personal profile cannot be connected, only a Page.
- The Growth plan or higher — Messenger and Instagram are Growth channels. If you are on a lower plan the tile shows which plan unlocks it.
A draft is fine
If the bot is still a draft, connecting publishes it, and the dialog says so before you continue. A channel is only useful with a published flow behind it.
Connect it
Everything happens inside Facebook's window. Meerlume never sees your password.
Open your bot, go to Bot settings and choose the Messenger tile, then Continue with Facebook.
Sign in with Facebook
Facebook's dialog opens and asks you to log in with the account that manages the Page. If you are already signed in to Facebook in this browser, this step is a single click.
Choose the Page
Facebook lists the Pages you manage and asks which ones Meerlume may access. Tick the Page your customers message, then allow the permissions it lists — they are the ones Meerlume needs to read and answer messages on that Page, nothing more.
Pick the Page, if you manage several
With one Page the connection completes on its own. If you manage more than one, Meerlume asks which Page to connect and Facebook confirms once more — that second confirmation is expected, not a sign that the first one failed. You can switch Pages later by reconnecting.
Done
The dialog shows the Page name and Messenger connected. Messages sent to the Page reach your flow from now on.
If the Continue button never enables
The dialog relies on Facebook's own sign-in script, which ad-blockers and privacy extensions commonly block. Meerlume tells you when the script failed to load; allow the site in the extension or try in a window without it, then press Try again.
What Meerlume sets up for you
- The link between your Page and Meerlume, so new messages are delivered to your flow. There is no webhook, callback URL or token to paste anywhere.
- A long-lived permission. Facebook's grant for a Page does not expire on a schedule, so there is nothing to renew.
- The share link. Once connected, Share your bot includes an m.me link that opens a Messenger conversation with the Page.
The Page stays yours
Meerlume only answers messages on your behalf. Your team can still open Meta Business Suite and reply there, and disconnecting in Meerlume removes Meerlume's access to the Page entirely.
What your customers see
A customer messages the Page from Messenger, from the Message button on the Page, or from the m.me link, and the bot answers in the same thread. Choices appear as quick-reply buttons under the message; a tap sends the answer and moves the flow on.
- Quick replies show up to 13 options, each with a short label. A question with more options, or with long ones, lists them in the message instead and the customer types the one they want.
- Messenger does not hand over a phone number or a name. The contact is filled in from what the flow asks. If you want a name or a number on file, ask for it in the flow — the Telegram and WhatsApp guides have the same advice.
- The conversation appears in your inbox like any other channel, and you can take it over at any point.
Try it
Open the m.me link from Share your bot, or find your Page in Messenger, and send it a message from your own account. The reply comes from your flow. Anyone who manages the Page can test it the same way — Facebook does not treat your own messages differently from a customer's.
Disconnecting
Open the Messenger tile and press Disconnect. Meerlume stops receiving the Page's messages immediately and lets go of its access. The Page itself, and every conversation in it, stays exactly as it was; reconnecting later starts from the same dialog.
